Program Abstract :
This workshop focuses on developing research and publications on the unique needs of Asian American students, faculty and staff in higher education. Participants will connect with other colleagues interested in this population, discuss challenges associated with conducting research, and potentially form research/writing partnerships. Colleagues who have been successful in researching and publishing will share some experiences and recommendations about further research. Finally, we will help participants understand and negotiate some of the political challenges to publishing on Asian Americans.

As some of you know, there have been many conversations about this year's Convention Theme in Boston, MA, especially around references to the Revolutionary War and the use of references to tea and the Boston Tea Party. As part of the Standing Committee for Multicultural Affairs, APAN took part in drafting a resolution to address these issues. While some changes have been made to the Convention website, the Convention Theme has not been changed. This will very likely be a conversation during this year's Convention.
